I have lived in Los Angeles my life that is entire and I do not ever recall meeting anybody famous, despite having Hollywood in my yard. However, as a result of USC, i’m like we’ve become somewhat of a celebrity among America’s teenagers (well, not to ever the known level of Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber) because thousands of students want to meet me every fall. As much as I’d like to think it’s me, high school seniors want to make yes I realize their strong fascination with USC. They take time to meet me personally at high college visits, at off-campus receptions, and during their campus visits. The goal: to make sure I can put a real face up to a name on an application. I don’t blame them. USC can be an place that is extraordinary students can visited achieve their academic goals and prepare themselves due to their future careers. But while I truly make the effort to remember as many students as possible, I’m not getting any younger and my memory just isn’t the same as you can imagine, I meet thousands of students during the fall semester and.

My blog series ‘Do This, Not That’ is inspired by a guide directed at me personally by my mother: Eat This, Not That (she thinks I need to drop a lbs that are few that’s not going to happen. Los Angeles’ diverse cultures has me trying foods that are different time!) Having said that, I’m here to give you with some advice on how to contact your admission counselor and make sure it’s a meaningful experience for both events. Every morning i’m greeted with over 40 emails and instantly tell myself: ‘this will probably be a long time.’ But as I filter through them, I realize these emails are from prospective students who would like to ‘introduce’ themselves to me. Works out, only four e-mails have actually questions that I have to answer. Three of them have quick easy responses (I’m happy we have this kind of thorough site, I always refer to it when I do not keep in mind something). The past one, this one is special. A student asks me a question i have no idea the answer to and I can not find the answer on the website. I’ll take this challenge! My obligation as admission therapist would be to ensure my students are very well informed applicants. I understand this process is confusing and difficult to navigate but We will do my better to clarify things for you. I shall do my homework and answer your question. I really don’t have all the answers when a learning student asks me something I don’t know, they’re sharpening my skills. We appreciate this kind of connection with students because this lets me know they want to make sure USC is a good fit for them that they are taking this admission process very seriously and. Therefore I challenge one to challenge your admission counselor and ask them concerns to save you time. We are ready!

5 Things to Double Check Always Before Hitting Submit.

1. You have got filled out all fields that are necessary the application

This might seem like common sense, but with therefore numerous response fields to complete, it’s rather easy to accidentally skip or forget a question. Be sure to respond to any or all applicable questions so that you submit an application that is complete.

2. No errors or typos

We recognize that senior year is just a busy time, but certainly leave time and energy to proofread your application. Have a close friend or family member do equivalent for you. A credit card applicatoin that is riddled with errors shows that you do not learn how to write and/or don’t care enough to check your work, both of that are detrimental.

3. You really explain why you wish to attend USC, be specific

Most colleges will ask question akin to ‘Why do you want to attend our institution?’ Instead than being generic and stating you want an university with school spirit, in a city that is large where you are able to study biology, do your research and mention specific programs, research opportunities, or classes that interest you.

4. Academic summary and self-reported test that is supplemental

Even though your academic history and self-reported test scores appear as optional things, it is in your benefit to complete them in the typical application. Often test ratings or transcripts could possibly get lost in the mail, if you self-report the information as well so it helps. This way we can continue to judge your file in the meantime while waiting for the formal documents to arrive.

5. That you truly hit the submit button…for both app that is common supplement

Every there are students who surprisingly forget to actually hit the submit button year. Additionally sometimes, students hit submit for the app that is common but forget to submit the USC Supplement. It could be the simplest part regarding the application, but make sure you don’t forget that last step.

*Deadlines are essential so please take note that you need to submit by December 1st to be looked at for merit scholarship. With that said, we all know some things are from your control such as letters of suggestion and transcripts that are official. That is another explanation it’s important to fill out your educational summary, once we wait for official documents to arrive as we can evaluate that in the meantime. Make an effort to have all documents in by December 1st, but we comprehend if some of these supplemental documents come in a little following the deadline.
